Rev. D.E. Frye, better known as Papa, 86, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015, at McLeod Medical Center-Dillon.
Funeral services were held 3:00 p.m. Monday at East Dillon Baptist Church with entombment in Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation was 2:00-3:00 p.m. Monday at the church prior to the service directed by Cooper Funeral Home.
Born in Moore County, NC, August 18, 1928, he was the son of the late Robert Clyde Frye and Nova Needham Frye. Rev. Frye pastored for 58 years in North and South Carolina, he was a member of East Dillon Baptist Church, and won the award for Dillon County Ministerial Alliance for 2011. He was a graduate of Fruitland Bible Institute, and Piedmont Bible College in Winston- Salem.
Survivors include his wife, Johnsie W. Frye of Dillon daughters, Brenda Sue (Bobby) Horne, Loretta K. (Rodney) Dudney, and Rhonda Gail (Billy) Altman all of Dillon; 7 grandchildren, Greg Horne, Stacey Darmon (Matt), Labronda Bristow (Alex), Stevie Dudney (Jennifer), Stephanie Altman (Brian), Heather Gainey, and Patrick Altman; 14 great-grandchildren, Beth Horne, Jack Horne, Jared Darmon, Olivia Darmon, Chase Dudney, Chloe Dudney, Jordan Mew, Jessie Altman, Jacob Altman, Jaclyn Altman, Megan Bristow, Aaron Bristow, Abby Bristow, and Kendall Gainey.
