The South Carolina Department of Transportation plans to replace the bridge on Nobles Road (S-17-174) that spans Bear Swamp in Dillon County.
The bridge was rated as structurally deficient and will be replaced by United Infrastructure Group, Inc. The work is tentatively scheduled to begin June 23. Barring any unforeseen delays, the bridge should be reopened to traffic by November 12. Traffic will be detoured along West 3rd Ave. (SC 9), North Main Street (SC 41), Road 30 (S-17-30) and Road 300 (S-17-300). The detour is approximately 4 miles long and is expected to add 10 minutes to normal traffic time.
For more information, the public may contact Resident Construction Engineer Ken Hayes at 843-431-1135.
