Friday, February 17, was my 68th birthday, and I told my golfing friends that I hoped I could shoot my age of 68. I didn’t do that, but I did have my fourth hole-in-one of my golfing life.

Wildcats Involved In Basketball Tournament Action
The Dillon High School girls basketball team advanced to the fifth place game at the Little Caesars Invitational on Wednesday with a 62-48 win over Conway. The Dillon High School boys basketball team also won on Wednesday with a 71-65 victory over Florence Christian.

Dillon County Lady Shooter Takes First Place in Competition
The Dillon County 4-H Shooting Sports Club recently participated in two South Carolina Youth Shooting Foundation Events, with Catherine Hunter Holland finishing in first place in the Ladies division and Cole Gasque earning second in the Rookie Division.

Wildcats to Face Tigers in Dillon for Third Round of Playoffs
The Swansea Tigers will bring a 9-2 record into Dillon Memorial Stadium Friday to face the undefeated Wildcats in the third round of the State AA Lower State playoffs. It will be the first meeting of the two teams.

Francis Marion soccer pair earn 1st-team All-PBC honors
Francis Marion University sophomore forward Alex Blandin and senior defender Adrian Williams have been named to the Peach Belt Conference 2011 Men’s Soccer All-Conference Team. Both were selected to the 13-member first team.

Francis Marion runners placed 8th and 9th at PBC Meet
Led by junior Ian Wallace and sophomore Whitney Wagner, the Francis Marion University men’s and women’s cross country teams placed eighth and ninth respectively at the Peach Belt Conference Championship Meet, Saturday morning (Oct. 22).
