At a recent meeting, the Florence One Board of Trustees approved the appointment of two new principals hired to fill the vacancies left by administrators at Dewey L. Carter Elementary School and at Moore Intermediate School. The new appointments will take effect July 1, 2011.
Twenty schools were released from the collaborative after they made improvements in student achievement. Among the released schools was J.V. Martin Junior High School.
A driver of a soft drink truck was robbed at a Latta Grocery store on June 9th at approximately 4:30 a.m., according to an incident report by Sgt. Bobby Jones of the Latta Police Department.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced today the availability of $10 million to establish and evaluate comprehensive workplace health promotion programs across the nation to improve the health of American workers and their families. The initiative, with funds from the Affordable Care Act’s Prevention and Public Health Fund, is aimed at improving workplace environments so that they support healthy lifestyles and reduce risk factors for chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes.
