Admin 2The Herald has heard numerous complaints lately from residents in the City of Dillon about dogs running loose and in some cases terrorizing entire neighborhoods. A citizen appeared before the Dillon City Council last month to make a complaint about dogs running loose.
Admin 2The Dillon County Council learned at their meeting recently that the S.C. Forestry Commission wants to charge the county for using one acre of their Dillon County Fire Tower site as a convenience (trash) center.
Admin 2Gordon Elementary School principal Shawn Johnson, accompanied by Assistant Principal Famon Whitfield III, spoke at the Dillon District Two School Board meeting recently.
Admin 2Thirty-eight South Carolina public school students and six adult educators have been chosen as winners in a poetry and poster contest held annually by the National Career Development Association and the Office of Career and Technology Education at the South Carolina Department of Education.
Admin 2At a recent Dillon City Council meeting, a citizen made a complaint about litter. His complaint specifically dealt with those people who are hired to clean someone’s property and accomplish their work by blowing leaves, debris, and other trash onto someone else’s property rather than picking it up and disposing of it properly.

Admin 2While many college students were spending their spring break at the beach or relaxing, a group from Benedict College came to Dillon this past weekend to donate their time and talents working at East Elementary School.
Admin 2Reverend Bill Bragg Williams, 80, died Monday, March 7, 2011, in the Methodist Manor in Florence, SC. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday March 7, 2011, in Latta United Methodist Church with visitation following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall. Kannaday Funeral Home in Latta is assisting the family.
