Iacob Marcovici, MD, of Aesthetic Medical Center in Dillon, recently presented two lectures at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery in Hollywood, Florida. The annual conference provides cosmetic surgeons from around the world with the most up-to-date information on cosmetic surgery procedures and technology.
Dr. Marcovici presented “Preventions on Periumbilical Irregularities after Liposuction: The P.L.U.S. device,” which discussed a device Dr. Marcovici invented that helps with better retraction of the abdominal skin after liposuction. The device is applied over the umbilical area after surgery, creating pressure and more uniform skin retraction.
Dr. Marcovici’s second presentation addressed the benefits of fat grafting in patients with Poland’s Syndrome, or the absence of one breast. Fat grafting involves the transfer of excess fat from another area of the body, and after special preparation, is injected into areas of the body that need filling. The fat transfer has many uses including breast enlargement, facial rejuvenation, lip augmentation, hand rejuvenation, correction of skin depressions and scars, and much more.
Additionally, Dr. Marcovici was asked to serve as Moderator for two sessions at the conference, one for the International Society of Cosmetic Gynecology, and the other for a session titled “Avoiding Breast Surgery Complications”. Moderators are chosen based on their experience in the field.
