As we head in to the heart of the summer months we tend to spend more time on the road. While on road trips it is easy to make a comparison between our state and other states. For example , the pavement may suddenly get smoother, or rougher, as one travels through neighboring states.

The 2013 Dillon County Tomato Growers Association held its annual supper and awards program Friday, June 19th at the Dillon Wellness Center.
After arriving last Saturday from Methodist churches located all over our state, 75 campers and staff of The Salkehatchie Harvest Camp settled into their quarters at the new Dillon Middle School for a week of intense work repairing and renovating seven homes of underprivileged families stretching from Dillon to Latta, Nichols, Minturn, Hamer and Sellers.
The City of Dillon passed their 2013-2014 budget recently.
The total budget is $9,224,261.
At the request of The Dillon Herald, we sat down last week with Clay Young, Dillon County Administrator, about some of the highlights in the approved 2013-2014 budget for the county and what he believes the financial condition of the county is at this time.
