Asbestos Removal Appears To Have Begun At Old Belk Building (Updated 6/10)

The asbestos removal at the old Belk/Carolina Furniture building on Main Street in Dillon appears to have begun. On Saturday, a crew from Applied Abatement Demolition, which specializes in asbestos removal and interior demolition, were working at the building. Since it was Saturday, no one was available at city hall for comment as offices were closed.

Pirates Clinch Minor League Championship; Reds Edge Yankees in Dixie Youth Majors

Unemployment Rate Falls Slightly

Dillon County’s unemployment rate fell from 13.4 percent in the month of March to 13.1 percent during the month of April, according to the latest figures.

Final Baseball and Softball Polls Released

The final South Carolina Baseball and Softball Coaches polls of the season have been released. Dillon’s Lady Wildcats took second and Latta’s Lady Vikings finished third in their classes, while the Dillon boys finished sixth and Lake View and Latta took eighth and ninth.
