After defeating Lake View 2-1 over the weekend, East Clarendon was stopped dead in its tracks by Latta’s Lady Vikings who battled the Wolverines to a 1-0 win on Monday, May 9.
The Latta Vikings got five hits and five runs as they defeated Green Sea-Floyds 5-1 to advance in the Lower State finals.
Latta had two boys and six girls qualify for the state championship in Saturday’s Class A lower state track and field meet.
On Saturday, May 7, the Dillon High School girls track team won the Region 8-2A Lower State title in Charleston, S.C., while the boys won the 4×100 relay.
Latta’s Lady Vikings took down Lamar 13-3 on Wednesday to claim the Class A District V championship, then battled Hannah-Pamplico in the first round of the Lower State playoffs for a 5-4 win.
Lake View’s Wild Gators continue to dominate the playoffs, as they eliminated Timmonsville 12-5 on Wednesday and sent Green Sea-Floyds to the loser bracket in an 11-0 shut out on Saturday.
The Dillon Wildcats wrapped up their regular season of soccer last week with wins over Marion and Andrews.
