Five outstanding classroom teachers were named today as finalists in South Carolina’s State Teacher of the Year Program.
Among them is Beth R. Hinson, a biology teacher at Dillon High School.
This fall, Trevor Gilchrist of Lake View made Drum Major in the University of South Carolina Band.
The first competition was in Myrtle Beach for a chance to go to the 2011 National Prostart Invitational. A total of 37 teams from both North and South Carolina competed in the competition.

Sara Khalil, daughter of Nabil and Mona Khalil of Dillon, has been accepted to both the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, SC. She is presently a senior at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC.
The South Carolina State Fair, an independent nonprofit organization, announced it will be increasing its annual scholarship award by $4,000 per student for its 2011 Ride of Your Life Scholarship Program.
