1.7 Million Veterans’ Wreaths Placed In U.S.

On Dec. 19 on National Wreaths Across America Day at 2,557 participating locations, dedicated Americans in every state honored our nation’s heroes by safely placing a total of 1.7 million veterans’ wreaths on their headstones and remembering them, by saying each name out loud.

DHEC Vital Records System Upgraded

When the calendar rolls over at the end of this month into a new year, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control’s (DHEC) Office of Vital Statistics will roll out its new, fully web-based system to generate customer-friendly birth and death certificates.

Pee Dee Coalition Coordinator To Present At Conference

Michelle Harkey, Pee Dee Coalition Outreach and Training Coordinator and Military Partnership Project Coordinator for the Elizabeth Pettigrew Durant Children’s Center, a program of Pee Dee Coalition, will present “Effective Victim Services and Advocacy Response for Military Families,” at the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children 2021 San Diego International Conference in January.

Record-Breaking Atlantic Hurricane Season Draws To End

The extremely active 2020 Atlantic hurricane season is drawing to a close with a record-breaking 30 named storms and 12 landfalling storms in the continental United States. While the official hurricane season concludes on November 30, tropical storms may continue to develop past that day.
