He was quiet and soft-spoken. He didn’t make much of a fuss. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was the “Water Man.” I think he knew everybody, and it certainly seems that everyone knew him. He was not only my co-worker, but my friend.

I feel that when a person is elected, appointed or run unopposed into office (of any kind) they themselves do not have to be a perfect person; we all have our many faults, but I feel that they do need to hold themselves above reproach in that office with their decisions.

As I have been watching and reading the news concerning the town of Latta, I feel somewhat sad because of the matters at hand.
The Dillon County Library Board of Trustees met to celebrate and honor the good works of Mrs. June Arnette.
After another great weekend of racing action on Saturday, May 10, Moree’s 95/38 Paradise Raceway is set to host a double points race this Saturday, May 24.
The Long Trail Home—that’s the journey that Matt Littrell, a former Marine infantryman, is making as he travels from Camp Lejeune, NC to Camp Pendleton, CA on horseback as he raises money for the Semper Fi fund.
The Dillon County Free Medical Clinic has a new executive director.
Ernie Barrentine took over the director’s position on May 6th.
Ten folks with local ties were part of a mission trip to Cuba recently. The team shared in 164 salvations and the planting of two new churches working mainly in the Havana region.
Graduation time is upon us, and on May 29th, The Dillon Herald will be running its annual graduation section.
