Moses Heyward has been hired as the new Emergency Preparedness Manager for Dillon County.
The announcement was made at the Dillon County Council meeting on Wednesday afternoon.
Heyward retired this week after working 29 years and four months at DuPont. He is a former state trooper.
Heyward is Hazmat certified and has earned certificates in industrial fire brigade training, confined space training, confined space rescue, and fire protection systems management. He has managed fire audits and is trained in EMS. He is familiar with the fire protection code. He is a graduate of Allen University.
Heyward said that he feels like his training and experience will help him in serving as the Emergency Preparedness Manager. He said he has a great concern for the safety and security of the people of Dillon County. He said this is his number one priority.
County Administrator David Mobley said he was excited about Heyward coming on board and feels his expertise will be a great contribution to the position and to his service to the people of Dillon County. Heyward was chosen from among 46 people who applied for the position.
Heyward and his wife Martha, have three children, Shauna, Shenek, and Moses A. Heyward.
Heyward will take over the position on July 6th.
