Bo McInnis of the Dillon County Political Action Committee (PAC) recently sent a Freedom of Information Act request to SLED in reference to the investigation of the Dillon County Fire Department.
He received a reply from SLED stating that this was an open investigation. The letter stated the following: “Our records indicate that the above referenced file is part of an open investigation; therefore, I must deny your request at this time based on the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, Section 30-4-40 (A) (3) (B) … the premature release of information to be used in a prospective law enforcement action.“
The letter also states that he may continue to check back with SLED regarding the status of the case.
