Dillon Christian School’s Lady Warriors added two more wins this week, defeating both Carolina Academy and Williamsburg Academy 3-2.
The Warriors hosted Carolina Academy on Thursday, October 6, and things got off to a rocky start. Carolina scored double over DCS in the first two games, claiming wins with scores of 15-25 and 13-25. But the Lady Warriors avoided a shut out by coming back strong for a 25-21 finish in the third. They kept up the momentum to claim game four 26-16 and wrapped up the match with a 15-10 win in game five.
Lauren Lee led the Lady Warriors with 11 kills and a block, and Holly Davis added 10 kills and two digs. Lee and setter Courtney Miller each made six aces, and Davis made five. Miller also made 11 assists.
Kathryn Brown made five kills for DCS; Sarah Fitzgibbons made three kills; Kylee Sullivan made one kill; Frances Stephens made one kill, one dig, and one ace; Hailey Harris made one dig, one assist, and one ace; and Amanda Bass made one dig.
On Tuesday, October 11, the Lady Warriors traveled to Williamsburg Academy and came away with a 3-2 win. DCS took a hard fought 29-27 win in game one, but fell 15-25 in game two. The third set was another close one as the Warriors finished 26-24, only to fall 21-25 in game four. With the match score tied at 2-2, a narrow 15-13 finish in game five gave the Lady Warriors the victory.
Holly Davis led the charge against Williamsburg with 13 kills and one dig. Lauren Lee made five aces, one kill, and one dig, and Courtney Miller made six assists, one dig, and one ace.
Frances Stephens and Kylee Sullivan each made one dig and one ace, and Kathryn Brown made three kills and one dig in the win, and Hailey Harris made two digs and one ace.
Dillon Christian is now 9-7 overall and 8-4 in the region with just two games left in the regular season.
Tonight, the Lady Warriors head to trinity Collegiate for varsity and junior varsity matches beginning at 4:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, October 18, the Warriors will wrap up the regular season by hosting Marlboro Academy beginning with junior varsity action at 4:00 p.m. It was also be senior night, so be sure to make plans to attend and support our local team!
