Citizens protested at the Dilmar buildings on Main Street on Friday afternoon. They were protesting against the demolition of the buildings.
Joan Jones, owner of The Dillon Barbershop on Main Street, said it was really said that these buildings in the historical district are being torn down. She said the city spent a great deal of money revitalizing Main Street and doing what they have done here for whatever purpose is not right. She said it would be better if the buildings had been restored. She said the buildings could have been used to put something there for the youth, who need a place to go. She said there was someone interested in restoring the buildings. She said it was painful to see the buildings be demolished.
