Pauline “Dollie” Christmas Chestnut, 92, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon.
Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Born in Oxford, NC, April 2, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Otis Marshall King and Annie Sue Adcock King. She worked in textiles in Hamer, Dillon, Laurinburg, and McColl, and after retiring in textiles she was a Home Health Caregiver. She was first married to the late Shelton Christmas and then to the late James Chestnut.
Survivors include her daughter, Helen Vile and special friend Tony Steen of Fayetteville, NC; son, Ronnie Christmas (Joyce) of Florence; grandchildren, Laura Vile Schimmer (Erik) of Ozark, AL, William A. Vile, Jr. (Sabrina) of Raeford, NC, Michael Vile (Heather) of Myrtle Beach, and Stacy Christmas Herring (Junior) of Florence; great-grandchildren, Craig Schimmer, Erika Schimmer, and Mark Schimmer, all of Ozark, AL, Kerigan Herring of Florence, William Aiden Vile of Raeford, Zachary Taylor Vile, and Shelby Taylor Vile, both of Fayetteville, NC, and William Parker Vile of Myrtle Beach; sister, Mary Elizabeth Adams (Robert) of Dillon; brothers, John Benjamin King (Clara) of Tennessee, and Claude Porter King and special friend, Shirley Miller of Dillon; special caregiver, Naomi (Glenn) McInnis of Dillon; numerous nieces and nephews in Dillon, McColl, and Charleston.
Mrs. Chestnut was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Otis King, Flora Bell Adams, Ruby Hyatt, and William Watts King; and son-in-law, William A. Vile.
