The Dillon Wildcats added a pair of wins this week with road wins over Loris and Waccamaw.

On Thursday, January 17, the Wildcats traveled to Loris and defeated the Lions 74-39.

Olajuwan Fenton led the Wildcats with 14 points and Jaquan Knowlin added 10 with Jalik Bethea, Breon Page, and Maurice Williams each earning seven points for Dillon. Shaqui Cabbagestalk added six points, John Caulder added five, and Julius Saunders and ZaQuinte Lighty each scored four in the win, with Gerome McLeod, Anthony Blue, Gabriel Salmon, and Eri’Reon Hayes each scoring two.

On Tuesday, January 22, the Wildcats were again on the road for a 64-53 win over the Waccamaw Warriors.

Olajuwan Fenton again led Dillon with a team-high 18 points, Shaqui Cabbagestalk added 14, and Jalik Bethea earned 12. Jaquan Knowlin scored seven and Maurice Williams and John Caulder each added four with Anthony Blue and Eri’Reon Hayes each adding two. Breon Page earned one point for the Wildcats in the win.

Dillon’s record improves to 12-7 overall with the wins and 4-1 in Region 8-2A. Marion leads the region at an undefeated 5-0 with a 14-4 overall record this season. The Swamp Foxes were also ranked fifth in Class 2A boys basketball this week in the South Carolina Basketball Coaches poll. Mullins was ranked seventh, with Lake Marion and Newberry topping the list.

Dillon will be at home this Friday to host Aynor at 6:00 p.m., but the Wildcats will be on the road again on Tuesday, January 29, to face Mullins. Dillon will host the remaining three games of the season, beginning with Marion on Friday, February 1. All home games start at 6:00 p.m., so make plans to attend to support our local teams
