Services for Jesse Edward Owens will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in East Dillon Baptist Church with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation was 6-9 p.m.Wednesday in Cooper Funeral Home.
Mr. Owens, 67, died Monday, January 6, 2013 in Carolinas Hospital System in Mullins.
Born in Dillon County, November 10, 1946, he was the son of the late Elbert Owens and Maggie Ammons Owens. He attended East Dillon Baptist Church and was retired from Paper Board. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his children, Tonya (Johnny) Eller, Rev. David (Jessica) Owens, and Candace (Shawn) Lane all of Dillon; grandchildren, Ethan, Haidan, and Easton Eller, Mariah, Hannah Grace and Caden Owens, Mihaley, Lyric, and Story Lane; siblings, Elbert “Buddy” Owens, Jr, Marian Cook, and Tina Ford of Dillon, Larry Owens of Myrtle Beach, Bobby Owens and Brenda Turner of Dillon; He was preceded in death by his grandsons, Johnethan and Parker Eller and his nephew, Bo Ford.
