To The Editor:
This past week, I have witnessed both a tragedy and a miracle. Two of my co-workers’ homes burned down leaving them with only the clothes they were wearing. I can only imagine what it would be like to watch everything I own go up in flames. Thankfully all family members were safe and unharmed.
Our work staff began a phone chain with one another to collect clothing and household items to assist the two sisters. The amazing thing to witness was the way the townspeople of Dillon came together to assist these families. I have cried with joy each day as people began dropping off clothes, shoes, money, toys, beds, uniforms, and the list goes on. I know each person who had a heart to give did so without wanting to call attention to themselves, but I would like to publicly thank them.
Within 14 hours after the tragedy, these fire victims were clothed from head to toe by those with a heart to help others.
My deepest gratitude to the giving people of Dillon County. You make our town strong!
