Services for James Stafford Berry, Jr. will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Latta Southern Methodist Church. Burial with full military honors will be held in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation was held 6-8 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Mr. Berry, 93, went to be with Jesus Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence.
Born in Dillon County, SC, September 19, 1920, he was the son of the late James Stafford Berry, Sr. and Ida Mae Reason Berry. He was a member of Latta Southern Methodist Church, was a Corporal in the U.S. Army having served in World War II from 1941 to 1945, and was a retired Farmer.
Survivors include his daughter, Bobbie Bethea of Latta; sister, Ann Hill of Lake View; grandchildren, Bud (Amy) Bethea, and Gina (Kevin) Scott, Mike Turbeville, Kevin (Heidi) Turbeville; great-grandchildren, Layne Scott, Jacob Scott, Madison Bethea, Nicholas Turbeville, Amanda Turbeville, Alexander Turbeville, and Chad Turbeville; great-great-grandchildren, Troy and Nathan Turbeville. Mr. Berry was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Weatherford Berry; daughter, Carolyn Berry Rogers; and brothers, Carlisle Berry, T.C. Clifton Berry, Henry Berry, S.A. Berry, and Victor Berry; and his great-grandson, Lawson Drew Bethea.
