Dillon’s Lady Wildcats shut out Marion’s Lady Swamp Foxes 14-0 in a five-inning no-hitter on Tuesday night in Dillon in varsity softball action.

The Wildcats scored two runs each in the bottom of the first and second innings and added seven in the third before sealing the win with three runs in the fourth.

Shaquailla German got the win on the mound, pitching a complete game no-hitter and facing 16 batters for 12 outs, one walk, and one hit by pitch. German improved to 3-2 on the mound so far this season.

At bat for the Wildcats, German went 3-for-4, hitting three doubles for five RBI and two runs scored. Shayna Covington also went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs scored; Tara Grimsley went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, a stolen base, and three runs scored; Erin Bailey went 2-for-3 with a double and one run scored; Shar’Asia Samuel went 2-for-3 with a RBI, a stolen base, and two runs scored; Da’Kerhia Samuel went 1-for-2 with a double, a RBI, and one run scored; Leah McMillan went 1-for-3 with a RBI and one run scored; Rebecca Callahan scored one run with three RBI; and Taylor Blackmon and Auh’Keria Smiling each stole a base.

In the field, Rebecca Callahan made a put out and an assist; Erin Bailey made an assist; and Da’Kerhia Samuel and Leah McMillan each made a put out.

The Lady Wildcats improved to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in Region 8-2A.

So far this season, Covington leads the team in hits, going 17-for-25 overall with a 680 batting average. Covington also leads the team with 12 stolen bases, 17 runs scored, and 11 assists in the field. German has had 13 hits, including six doubles, and Bailey has had 10 hits, including Dillon’s lone home run. Bailey, Grimsley, and Callahan have each brought in eight RBI so far.

Da’Kerhia Samuel has made 13 put outs in the field this season, and German has made 10.

On the mound, German has also struck out 34 out of 100 batters in five games so far this season while allowing just 11 runs. Taylor Price has faced 63 batters and struck out 14 with just two runs and seven hits in three games.

The Lady Wildcats will be at Loris this Friday at 6:30 p.m. to face the Lady Lions and will be back at home on Tuesday, April 1, to host Waccamaw. Make plans to attend to support our local team!
