Francis Guy Hamilton, Jr., 78, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
     Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 2:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
     Born in Horry County, SC, November 12, 1935, he was the son of the late Francis Guy Hamilton, Sr. and Pauline Dew Hamilton.  He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served for fourteen months on assigned duty in France.  After returning home he joined the S.C. Highway Patrol February 17, 1957 serving Marion, and Hemingway Counties, and Dillon since 1961, and retiring in 1984.  He was a member of Wannamaker Baptist Church, and was also a Mason and a Shriner.
     Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Joyce Hamilton of Dillon; daughter, Winkie (Kevin) Daniels of Dillon; son, Joey Hamilton of Nichols; brothers, William Hamilton and Larry Hamilton, both of Nichols.
     Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Bill Hamilton; and his brother, Harvey Hamilton.
