
Dillon Christian School’s Ellison Rourke and Matthew Price were part of the winning North squad in Saturday’s 30th annual SCISA North-South All-Star football game.
The North team defeated the South 21-6 at Orangeburg Prep’s Indian Field.
Rourke played linebacker and Price played offensive lineman.
Rourke and Price were coached by Willie Jeffries on the North squad. Jeffries is a member of five Halls of Fame, including the College Football hall of Fame and the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame. He earned a 179-132-6 record in his 29-year coaching career and has the most wins in South Carolina State University history and more MEAC wins than any other coach. He is the Head Football Coach Emeritus at SC State.
The South squad was coached by Dick Sheridan, who served as a head coach at both Furman University and North Carolina State, earning a 121-52-5 record in his career. He was the NCAA Division I-AA Coach of the Year and won six Southern Conference Championships.
On Saturday, the South team scored first on a 42-yard pass from Robert Barrow to Wil Carter, both of Ben Lippen, in the second quarter.
Porter-Gaud’s Kris Johnson scored the final touchdown for the North on a run with seven minutes remaining in the fourth.
In addition to Dillon Christian’s Ellison Rourke and Matthew Price, the North squad also included Tyron McElveen, Blake Kirby, and Khaleef Matthews of Trinity-Byrnes; Hunter Eason, David Coker, Chris Smith, and Taylor Lee of Florence Christian; and Alex Glasscock of Robert E. Lee Academy.
The South squad included Noah Walker, Tripp Ward, and Harry Easler of Williamsburg Academy.
