Lifelong Dillon, SC resident William “Billy” B. Hawkins III died January 28th, 2015 at the age of 64. Born on October 17, 1950 he was born and raised in Dillon, SC.
After graduating from Dillon High School in 1968, he went on to attend Francis Marion University, where he played both varsity golf and baseball. Following college he joined the South Carolina National Guard, for which he served several years in Dillon’s tank battalion. He had lifelong ties to the community, City Recreation Department and Twin Lakes Country Club. His proudest moments came as President of the DHS Booster Club, President of TLCC, and coaching youth baseball and football over 20 years in the city recreation department.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Hawkins, sons: Will and Kirby of Charleston, SC, and sisters: Diana Bailey of Florence, SC & Melissa Hawkins of Columbia, SC.
Visitation and memorial services will be held at Twin Lakes Country Club ballroom on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. with private family ceremony afterwards. Relatives and friends are encouraged to attend the memorial to celebrate Billy’s life. Memorial contributions can be made either to the Dillon County EMS or Dillon County Animal Shelter.
