The Dillon Christian School Warriors hosted Florence Christian on Tuesday, March 24, for a tough 17-1 loss.

The Eagles scored three runs each in the top of the first and second innings, picking up four in the third and seven in the fifth for the win. Connor Hamilton scored the Warriors’ only run in the bottom of the first.

“We looked very flat,” Coach Randy Carlyle said. “With six fielding errors and little hitting, it is very difficult to beat any team. We have some work to do in the fielding department.”

Landry Collins made four assists and one put out, and Thomas Evans made three put outs in the field. Hamilton Hodges made one put out; Jake Boykin made one assist with one error; Ethan Shackelford had one put out with two errors; Connor Hamilton made one put out and one error; and Isaac Hendrix and Garrett Collins each made two put outs with one error.

Nick Smith took the loss on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings for one hit, four walks, and five runs. Evans took a turn on the mound for three hits, five runs, one earned run, two walks, two doubles, and two outs. Hodges also appeared on the mound for six hits, seven runs, four earned runs, one walk, a double, and one out.

At bat for the Warriors, Evans was 1-for-2 with one RBI; Boykin was 1-for-2; Hendrix was 1-for-1; Ellison Rourke was 1-for-2; and Hamilton was 1-for-3 with one run scored. Collins and Hamilton both had fielder’s choice hits.

The Warriors were scheduled to host Marlboro Academy on Friday, but the game was delayed due to the rain.

Dillon Christian is now 3-2-2 overall and 0-1 in SCISA Region 3-2A.

The Warriors will be off for spring break this week but will be back on Thursday, April 9, at Emmanuel Baptist, and Friday, April 10, at Pee Dee Academy.
