A brief workforce training update was given at the Dillon County Board of Education’s July meeting.
Board Chairman Richard Schafer said the equipment money is in tact and at Northeastern Technical College. He said NETC has received permission to fund the $300,000 of equipment for the training program at the Dillon County Technology Center.
Schafer said they are working with Wyman-Gordon and other industries to make sure the equipment is appropriate for other industries not just Wyman-Gordon.
Schafer said as far as he knew everything was okay and on go.
Schafer said it was imperative to begin attracting people to the program so an article and ad were running in The Dillon Herald and The Dillon County Shopper to get the message out. He said 17 people had already graduated from the program.
Dr. John Kirby said it was a great cooperative effort.
Schafer said he would have a full update at the next meeting.
