The name of the man killed in the officer-involved shooting on Pocosin Road has been released by Coroner Donnie Grimsley.
Grimsley said the man is John Wesley Smith. Grimsley said that Smith is a 27-year-old white male.
Grimsley said the cause of death is under investigation.
