The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office have charged the parents of an infant with abuse/to inflict great bodily injury upon a child, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
The charges come after an investigation by the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office led by Investigator Allan Rogers.
According to an incident report by deputies Dennis Cox and Michael Barfield, the Sheriff’s Office was notified on June 8, 2017 to respond to the emergency room at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon after a child was taken there. After an examination and evaluation by medical personnel, the child was diagnosed with shaken baby syndrome symptoms with life-threatening injuries. The child was later transferred to another medical facility where the child remains in critical condition, Arnette said. Trey Harris, age 23, and Stephanie Oxendine, age 22, both of Dillon, are charged with abuse/to inflict great bodily injury upon a child.
The Dillon County Department of Social Services is also involved in the investigation.
