The Dillon Wildcats cruised to a 67-36 win over the visiting Aynor Blue Jackets in varsity basketball action played in Dillon on Monday, January 25.
Dillon held a slim 2-point, 8-6, lead after the first period of play. In the second period of play, both teams scored well connecting for a total of 35 points of which Dillon had 21 of those. At halftime, Dillon was up 29-20. Dillon increased the lead to 46-31.
Both teams racked up 33 fouls in the game of which Dillon had 15 of those.
Dillon’s D. Bethea connected for a game-high 29 points on one 3-point basket, eight 2-point baskets, and 10 free throws. B. McKinnon added 9 points to the scoreboard on four 2-point baskets and a free throw while J. Cabbagestalk also connected for 9 points on three 2-point baskets and 3 free throws. Z. Bethea placed 8 points on the scoreboard with a 3-point basket, a 2-point basket, and 3 free throws. C. Wright added a 3-point and a 2-point basket for 5 points. T. Pinkney had a 2-point basket and a free throw while C. J. Bethea sank a 2-point basket.
Aynor’s A. Gerald led his team in scoring with 12 points on four 3-point baskets while Cade Lewis connected on three 2-point baskets and 2 free throws for 8 points on the scoreboard.
Greg Brown had three 2-point baskets and a free throw for 7 points while teammate Anthony Eaddy also garnered 7 points on a 3-point basket and 4 free throws.
Dawson Johnson and Trent Wilson each sank a free throw.
