‘Walk To School Day’ Is October 6th
More than 100 schools and over 50,000 students, parents, educators, and neighbors in the state will participate in International Walk to School Day events on Wednesday October 6, 2010. South Carolina is one of the top five states in the country in participation in International Walk to School Day.

South Carolina Getting $47 Million In Federal Teacher Incentive Fund Grants Program
The state is among 62 winners of Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF) grants announced today by U.S Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. South Carolina’s award of $47,189,299 is the fifth largest for a statewide education agency.

Dillon District Two Teachers Of The Year Announced
Dillon High School’s Beth Hinson has been named Dillon School District Two 2010-2011 District Teacher of the Year. Dillon School District Two announced Mrs. Hinson’s selection during the September 20th board meeting honoring all Teachers of the Year for the 2010-2011 school year.

Hundreds Turn Out For ‘Words’ At East Dillon
Judgement House 2010 kicked off for the 7th year with a new script, “Words.”
On Friday, September 12th and Saturday, September 13th, East Dillon Baptist church opened its doors from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. for groups of 15 or 20 to participate in a walk-through drama.

County School Board Reviews Budgets
The Dillon County Board of Education reviewed budgets at their last meeting.
Some budgets had to be revised for presentation due to the change in the school funding formula.
