First Responders Targeted By Fireworks

On Wednesday July 4, 2018 the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and the Dillon County Fire Department responded to calls at Sunflower Apartments in reference to fireworks, and first responders were targeted by fireworks being shot at them.

A ceremonial flag burning disposing of worn and tattered American flags was held at the Woodmen Hall on the Old Latta Highway in Dillon on Thursday, June 28, officiated by Edwin Stephens.

A special session of the South Carolina Court of Appeals was held at the Dillon County Judicial Center on Thursday, June 14, for the presentation of a commissioned portrait of the Honorable James E. Lockemy, Chief Justice of the S.C. Court of Appeals.

In conjunction with the Dillon County’s Sheriff’s Office and South Carolina Palmetto Pride’s “Keep America Beautiful Campaign,” volunteers brave the heat to pick up litter and debris at the Academy Street Park in Latta.

Arrest Made For Pointing A Firearm

On Tuesday, June 19, 2018, deputies with the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a person acting irrational and pointing a gun at a person on Highway 301 South in Dillon, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
