Clerk of Court Gwen T. Hyatt said that someone is making prank calls about jury duty.
She said that the callers say that the person has missed jury duty and may be picked up by the Sheriff’s Office or may have to pay a $500 fine.
Hyatt said that her office has received numerous calls regarding this prank.
Hyatt said that the public should not believe these calls.
The public is reminded that jury duty notices are mailed to those who are called, and lists also often appear in the newspaper and the newspaper website, www.thedillonherald.com.
The public is also cautioned to not give out any personal information to someone who calls them on the telephone.
Anyone who has any questions about jury duty should call her office at 774-1425 from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
